Cynthia Shea Hart
While family issues caused her to return to Huntsville in 1990, she was soon encouraged to follow the creative interests she’d always had by opening her own catering company – the Perfectly Designed expression of her artistic background and the new love of food. Thus, in 1995 Cyn Shea’s Complete Catering was opened as a “distinctively different” catering business that quickly built a reputation for being among the best in the field.
Cynthia’s 17th restaurant to open would happen to be her own, opening in 2002. Cyn Shea’s Garden Café was the first full service restaurant in Hampton Cove and was an instant success in a growing community and was nationally recognized in Rand McNally and Southern Living.
Guided by the Lord, in 2007, #18, Shea’s Express opened in downtown Huntsville as the City’s only made-from-scratch bakery and café. Through strong community support, 2011 became an especially memorable year including record sales midst tornado recovery, and being recognized by Huntsville Madison County Chamber as Small Business of the Year, and the BBB Torch Award Winner for Marketplace Ethics while also embracing an expansion plan: to include producing a wholesale cake line, called Cyn Shea’s Cynfully Delicious.
In 2016, in addition to serving fabulous cakes, breakfast, lunch, and catering, the company recognized an even greater purpose: To Teach a marginalized people all the things we love about food and service for long-lasting employment opportunities in Huntsville’s fast growing hospitality industry.
Thus, Serving Hope, Inc. was established in early 2017 out of the Servant’s heart of Cynthia, for the sole purpose of leaving a legacy that truly matters, and to love well along the way. In short Cyn Shea’s Café and Catering has become the campus of underserved peoples who are loved well with the love of Jesus Christ, while being trained, and equipped in culinary techniques and food safety to prepare them for employment in Huntsville’s food industry.
All revenue from Cyn Shea’s Café and Catering “campus” goes back into Serving Hope programs to serve our students. May the Lord continue to grant us perseverance, resilience, patience and trust as we follow Him on this path.
Cynthia Shea Hart is happily married to Dan Hart, and they love mentoring and spoiling their 4 grand kids.
